Information for Study Abroad students about how to apply for University accommodation for Semester 1 (September entry) or Semester 2 (January entry) only.

Our accommodation guarantee
- Direct enrol (non-exchange) students are guaranteed an offer of a place in University accommodation for both September and January entry, if you apply by the deadline.
- Exchange students from institutions outside of Europe are guaranteed an offer for September entry, if you apply by the deadline. We cannot guarantee an offer for January entry but we aim to place as many students as possible in a university residence or support you in finding private accommodation.
- Exchange students from our European partners are not guaranteed an offer for September or January but are still welcome to apply. If we cannot provide a place in a University residence we will support you in finding private accommodation.

For Semester 2 students who are offered University accommodation
Semester 2 students who are offered University accommodation will be asked to arrive no later than 17 January 2023, as an orientation session is scheduled for 18 January 2023.
We will do our utmost to find alternative temporary accommodation for Semester 2 students for the period of 17 January – 25 January 2023. This may be University accommodation already vacated by Semester 1 students, or accommodation in a nearby hotel. Details will be confirmed in October 2022.

How to apply
You will need to have received and accepted a firm offer of study from the University to apply for University accommodation. All University accommodation applications and offers are made via our Accommodation Portal. Find out how to register on our Accommodation Portal.
In the online application, we will ask you to include your accommodation needs and your accommodation options. Find out how to complete and submit your application.
It is important to note, that we cannot guarantee that your offer will be for one of the options you have selected in your application.

Accommodation costs and how to pay
Tenancy costs for Semester 1 can be downloaded in full on our Study Abroad Semester 1 accommodation fees document. Tenancy costs for Semester 2 will be published soon.
Study Abroad or visiting students do not need to pay any advanced payments or deposits to secure University accommodation. When we make you an offer of University accommodation, the tenancy agreement will detail the total cost and when you must make the payments. This information can also be found on your Accommodation Portal.

If you wish to cancel your reservation, you should email student-accommodation@bristol.ac.uk immediately and follow the guidance on the Cancel your tenancy before the tenancy start date page.
Finding private rented accommodation
For students who are not guaranteed an offer of University accommodation, we recommend that you look for accommodation in the private sector as a priority.
